World Refugee Day 2021
One of the young adults that I work with, Louie, is a professional marathon runner. This year, he fulfilled the qualifying criteria, and flew to compete in the Tokyo Olympics as part of the UN Refugee Team.
Lamerhav House in Beer Sheva is open
Lamerhav House in Be’er Sheva has moved to a new and magical apartment, just a few blocks from the current location.
All this could not have happened without the help of the young adults of the Hadar Sufa Preparatory Program, who devoted an entire day to good deeds, came to hear about our work and helped us in the packing and transportation operation.
Distribution Point for Lone Soldiers in Beer Sheva
Even during the coronavirus lockdown, Lamerhav House in Beer Sheva remains open and serves as food and product distribution point for lone soldiers. Though all our activities have moved online, the ‘Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin’ in Beer Sheva is now operating within Lamerhav House, and remains a center that provides services to lone soldiers in Beer Sheva.

Recently, our young adults from the mentoring program for young asylum seekers, have been preoccupied with thoughts about their professional future. They did not think that there had been any possibilities for them out there. This led to a unique online meeting.

Last Friday, the ‘Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin’ has moved to Lamerhav House in Beer Sheva. The Center will work in cooperation with Lamerhav House, and will provide services to lone soldiers in Beer Sheva. The Center will serve as a home and an address for every lone soldie
Lamerhav’s First Digital Birthday
Every year, we celebrate with the young adults that are completing the program and going out into the world. This year, despite the Coronavirus restrictions, we had no intention of giving up the meeting, and so, moved online.
Support during a crisis: Interview with Shay Iso Ademka
Shay Iso Ademka is the head melave (mentor) at Lamerhav’s house in Afula and also coordinates all the activities in the northern branch. Just as the Coronavirus crisis began, he started his position at Lamerhav and immediately had to switch to providing distance support. This has raised many difficulties, but also lots of advantages. Shay shares with us his experience and professional process.
Online group mentoring at Lamerhav Hod Hasharon
At the beginning of the year, Lamerhav Hod Hasharon opened a group for our young adults to deal with relationships. The group provides a safe and open space for our young adults to raise questions and concerns and relate to the relationship patterns in their lives. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the group had to meet online. The transition was challenging, but it enabled the group to continue the process they started, to keep in touch and discover new things.
