Guy Bavian-Danks

My name is Guy Danks, I’m 35, and I have been living in Las Vegas, USA, for the past 10 years. I am married to Dustin, and am the mother of Emma (4) and Harrison (2). In Israel, I studied at the College of Management in Rishon Lezion and hold a BA in Business Administration. I work at the Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas, which is the flagship hotel of our company. I really love the hotel industry and enjoy meeting people from all over the world.

In June of this year, I came to visit Israel with my children. This was their first visit. I obviously came to visit Lamerhav in Hod Hasharon. Unfortunately, I did not get to see everyone, as in my previous visit, which happened to take place on “Lamerhav Day”. But, it was very exciting to see Shula, Zeevi, Adi and Nicole, and to meet the new team.

I truly enjoyed seeing my children running around on the lawn in Lamerhav, which was like a home to me. I have spent a lot of time in this house. Besides being a young adult in Lamerhav, I was also the first driver of the organization. And so, between the rides, Shula and I used to cook delicious dishes together in the small kitchen next to the offices. I was glad to see that even though large kitchens had been built since then, the small kitchen was still there. This was the kitchen in which Shula and I also gave a cooking course for the young adults. Today, I still cook recipes that I have from my time at Lamerhav.

I have a lot of amazing experiences from Lamerhav: the trips, the shows we would do every year for “Lamerhav Day”, the concerts and the rest of the culture days, and of course the wonderful people and the meaningful connections that I created for life. Lamerhav gave me tools to deal with life. I have no fear of the unknown and I feel that no matter what tomorrow brings, I’ll be ready and equipped to deal with whatever comes. And if sometimes I do not know what to do, I know how to ask for help. I learn all the time about new ways to cope with the challenges of life. I know that I am not alone and that I’m not the only one dealing with difficulties. I hope to be for my children what Lamerhav was for me. I believe that the best investment in one’s life, is the one in education.
