November is a month of new beginnings and we are excited every single time!
We have opened three new groups, and new adults have begun their journey in Lamerhav. This is the beginning of a personal and group process that will continue until they reach the age of 25.
In mid-November, the Stage One group was opened at Lamerhav House in Hod Hasharon. Fifteen 12th graders from various youth villages in the Israel Center District have entered the program. The group will meet once a month throughout the year, and deal with issues that are relevant to the transition phase and the move to independent living. The meetings will be conducted by a professional counsellor from Lamerhav Hod Hasharon staff.
The first activity focused on creating community connections and getting to know each other. After the participants had introduced themselves, we talked about the goals, needs and wishes of each and every one for the coming year. This was a lovely introductory meeting, as we were pleased to meet exciting, creative and energetic youth.
A week later, two new Stage One groups opened in Beer Sheva.
Lamerhav’s Stage One “Core Program” group convened for an opening meeting. Young adults from various settings in the South District will take part in personalized and group support processes starting from the 12th grade, through the transition period, before joining the army. The opening and introductory meeting also included social work students in the practical training stage. They will accompany the group process throughout the year. This was a fascinating (and delicious!) introductory meeting, in which everyone introduced themselves, as well as the program for the coming year.
The Stage One young adults, 11th and 12th graders in the “Partners for the Road” program in Beer Sheva, also started the personalized – group process. During the year, they will attend a business entrepreneurship course to prepare them for the world of employment, as well as meetings on prevention of drug and alcohol abuse and more. The introductory meeting was interesting and inviting, we got to know each other, and set goals for the coming year.
We have embarked on a new path together!
